My most recent paintings have been straddling line between abstraction and representation. My abstract paintings have always used the tangible, natural world as a point of departure, but after a summer trip to Alaska, my work has veered more towards pure landscape. These new works use the armature of sea and sky as vehicle to explore my interest in color and light. Ive tried to evoke a moodiness to the paintings which allows the viewer to experience the glow of the sun reflected off the water or the mist and wind altering the air.
